Please Join CASTLE’s “In Memory of the Children” Campaign
A call to action to put an end to child abuse
As the number of reported abuse cases increases as a direct result of the economic downturn, our children are at greater risk than ever before. We at CASTLE are asking the community to support our prevention efforts. You can do so by joining our “In Memory of the Children” Campaign. Come to a CASTLE office and pledge your support by signing a flag that will be carried in next year’s “Memory Field” dedications. The "Memory Field" consists of white flags with a blue ribbon, the ribbon for child abuse prevention; each flag represents one child who lost his or her life as a result of child abuse or neglect in the State of Florida during the prior year. Last year's "Memory Field" unfortunately consisted of approximately 198 flags which is 198 too many.
For the sake of the children, we urge you to join one of the CASTLE auxiliaries, which are currently being built in each community….help be the voice of the children by supporting our “Stomp Out Child Abuse” tours. There are so many ways in which you can help us reach the goal of one day retiring the "Memory Field", making it a distant memory. Each case of child abuse and neglect is completely preventable if help is received in time--but we cannot do it alone. We need your help to protect and save our children, so please call today…772.465.6011 (Fort Pierce), 567.5700 (Vero Beach) or 781.4510 (Stuart).
Consider Raymond, the homeless man, who had slept under the beautiful white flags for a week. He did not know what they represented. When he learned that each of those flags represented a child whose life was lost to child abuse, he reached into his pocket and offered his last three dollars to honor one of the children. Knowing that he had no money left to eat, he nevertheless said, “I will sleep better tonight – wherever that may be – because I know that I could do something for one of those children. I will picture a child’s face and I will sleep real good. Thank you, CASTLE.”
