Strengthening Families
The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is a collaboration of five St. Lucie County agencies; CASTLE, Catholic Charities, Family Preservation Services, Hibiscus and New Horizons. SFP is a nationally and internationally recognized parenting and family-strengthening program for high-risk families. SFP is an evidence-based family skills training program found to significantly reduce problem behaviors, delinquency, and alcohol and drug abuse in children and to improve social competencies and school performances. Child mistreatment also decreases as parents learn more effective parenting skills. SFP provides fourteen (14) weekly two-hour meetings. It includes three (3) separate courses: Parent Training, Children's Skills Training and Family Life Skills Training.
